My name is Joanne Cleveland. I graduated with a degree in Respiratory Therapy at LLU in 1981. I enjoyed Respiratory Therapy for 18 years, then in 2000 I decided to make a career change in to teaching because I love children. I have three grown sons and a daughter-in-law. Matthew, Mark, Timothy, and Annika bring me joy and make me laugh everyday.
I love gardening, reading, See's dark chocolate candy, cooking, laughing, singing when no one is around, and spending time with my family and friends. I graduated from Fresno State with my degree in Liberal Studies in 2002. I also have my California State Professional Clear Teaching Credential and SDA Teaching Credential. I finished up my Master's degree in January 2009.
I have taught a 5th/6th grade combination class for 5 years at Armona Union Academy before coming to LLA. I have taught 2nd grade here for 2 years, 5th grade for 4 years, and this is my 5th year in 4th grade. And I love it!
I consider it a privilege and a big responsibility to work with your children. I am excited to work at Loma Linda Academy where commitment to education and Christianity is foremost in our planning and our curriculum. My goal is to challenge my students scholastically and spiritually, preparing them for a life of love and service.
My mission for the class is to lead students to the feet of Jesus, service for others, and to love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves.
